【摘要】:Thistestmethodassistsinevaluatingtheeffectoflayout,typeface,typesize,color,andbackgroundonthelegibilityofprintedmatter.Previousresearch3hasshownthatresultsaremoresignificantlyimpactedbysubjectagethananyothereffect.Oldersubjectstendtorequiremorelightwhenusingthisinstrument.Becausesubjectsageatdifferentratesasaresultoflifestyleandgenetics,variabilityofdatatendstoincreasewithincreasingage.Thistestmethodwasdevelopedusingsubjectsofages19to28years.Itisadvisedthatsubjectsage19to28beusedincaseswherevariabilityneedstobekepttoaminimum.Testerscancomparelegibilitybetweenvariousgroupsofsubjects(byage,lightintensity,distance,visioncharacteristicsofthesubjects)andoneagainstotherlabelconfigurationswithingroupsofsubjects1.1Thistestmethodprovidesanobjectivemeanstocomparativelymeasuretheeaseofreadingprintedmatterforuseinpackagelabeling.1.2Thistestmethodisnotintendedtoquantifythelegibilityofaprinteditemagainstastandardbuttocompareitslegibilityagainstotheritems.1.3Thistestmethoduseshumansubjectstoviewprintedmattermountedinaspecializedinstrument.1.4Theuserofthistestmethodmustbeawarethatresultsmaydifferfromoneagegroupofsubjectstoanother.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
